1984Ann Wong and her husband have founded an Oakland-based nonprofit organization, the California Dictionary Project, and just completed phase one: buying and distributing dictionaries to every third-grader in Oakland, more than 6,400 children. (appeared in the Winter 2003 issue)   Dan Hawkins, head football coach at Boise State University, was named the Western Athletic Conference's 2002 Coach of the Year. (appeared in the Spring 2003 issue)    Genevieve (Lerch) Young and her husband, Scott, have formed Corporate Smarts Inc., a database software company headquartered in Los Altos. The company's Web site is located at www.corporatesmarts.com. (appeared in the Spring 2003 issue)    Ariana Strozzi, a horse trainer for more than three decades, operates a Horses and Leadership program on her ranch near Bodega Bay. For 12 years, Strozzi has been teaching people to take control of their lives, using a series of exercises with horses to assess her clients' strengths and weaknesses as leaders. (appeared in the Summer 2003 issue)    Carol Williams died in January 2003 at age 60. The Carmichael resident worked in the UC health system for 30 years, chiefly as an ostomy clinical nursing specialist. Survivors include husband Jim, son James, daughter-in-law Tammy,mother Nina Fontana and two grandchildren. (appeared in the Summer 2003 issue)    Ellen Fitzpatrick, M.S., is an associate professor of economics and finance in the School of Business and Economics at Plattsburgh State University of New York. She has received a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct research in Turkey, working with a team of agricultural economists at Ege University. (appeared in the Fall 2003 issue)    Bo Eason, who was drafted by the Houston Oilers football team after graduation, is pursuing a second career as an actor. He wrote and performs in the play Runt of the Litter, which he brought to Davis in September. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Eva (Heran) Lemley flies internationally for American Airlines and has three children. She lives in Aspen, Colo., where she recently got married. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Clifford Les, D.V.M., Ph.D. '95, is a senior staff investigator at the Bone and Joint Center of Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and affiliate faculty in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. He studies the cellular and tissue mechanisms behind the changes in bones that accompany estrogen depletion. He lives in Birmingham, Mich., with his wife, Catherine, and two cats. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Anamarie (Marlow) Maltzman and her husband, Jeffrey, welcomed their second daughter in July. Anamarie is an attorney specializing in labor and employment law with Steel Hector & Davis, and Jeffrey is an attorney specializing in mari-time law with Kaye, Rose & Maltzman. The family lives in Coral Gables, Fla. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Kevin Redmond, B.S. ’99, and his wife, Perla, will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary this year. They are both engineers at Intel in Hillsboro, Ore. (appeared in the Spring 2004 issue)    Bonnie Bassler, professor of molecular biology at Princeton University, returned to campus this spring, hosted by the UC Davis Consortium for Women and Research in April as its Distinguished Woman Scientist speaker. (appeared in the Summer 2004 issue)    James DeLoach Jr. married Margaret Warren on Valentine’s Day at Los Altos United Methodist Church. He is engineering manager for SnapTrack, a wireless communications company in Campbell, and she is a teacher and therapist at Stanbridge Academy in San Mateo. (appeared in the Summer 2004 issue)    James Nolan Jr., associate professor and chair of anthropology/sociology at Williams College in Massachusetts, was appointed director of the Williams-Exeter Programme at Oxford University. (appeared in the Summer 2004 issue)    Marcus Crowder, former educator and freelance writer, now covers theatre for the Sacramento Bee. He was previously the arts editor for the Sacramento News & Review. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Former Nike and Time Warner executive Fernando De Los Reyes has opened a new multicultural advertising agency, De Los Reyes Advertising, headquartered in Miami. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Juliana Fisher earned her doctorate in religion and education from Columbia University Teachers College and is pursuing a career in social justice ministry. She lives in Michigan. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Paul Olin, M.S., was named director of the California Sea Grant Extension Program. In addition to conducting studies of Coho salmon, oysters and halibut, Olin and his colleagues are testing inexpensive land-management practices in Tomales Bay. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Steven Towers, Ph.D. ’90, is a principal with North State Resources Inc., an environmental consulting firm with offices throughout Northern California. His wife, Elise ’91, directs the Gifted and Talented Education program at Enterprise School District in Redding. Their two eldest daughters attend UC Santa Cruz, and their youngest daughter plans to study viticulture and enology at UC Davis. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    John Valentine is the founder and president of Valentine Capital RPG, an asset management company in San Ramon. This is his 20th year in the investment business.
