1997James Clark married Lisa Henry in July in the town of Ryde. Clark works as an engineer at Watlow Electric Manufacturing in San Jose, and Henry is a graduate student and congressional assistant for Mike Honda. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)   Tyree Dorward was made associate at the San Diego office of law firm Best Best & Krieger LLP, specializing in education and water law. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Benjamin Stern founded CenterPoint Care Solutions last January, which enables direct communication between hospitals and continuing care facilities. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Marine Corps 1st Lt. Gregory Buchanan returned from an eight-month deployment to Iraq and Liberia on board the USS Iwo Jima. (appeared in the Spring 2004 issue)    Betty (Barnes) Conklin, a University of Louisville M.B.A. student, was a member of a team that took first place at the University of Georgia’s business plan competition in February. The team represented a company that is working on the first dyslexia-screening system for newborns. (appeared in the Summer 2004 issue)    Tyson Shower, J.D., was named a partner of McDonough Holland & Allen, a law firm in Sacramento. Shower specializes in construction law. (appeared in the Summer 2004 issue)    Vincent Catalano, M.B.A., is an adviser for Benefit Insurance Services in Sacramento. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Rene Olivas works as a background and security clearance investigator for a federal contractor. After living in Seattle and San Francisco, he will soon move back to Sacramento, where he was raised. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Former ASUCD Senator Erica Rios graduated from Mills College in May with a Master of Arts degree. She is starting a nonprofit computer software company, called In Sisterhood, to assist in building community organizations. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Jeremy Resnick is the proud father of Sophia, born in June.. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Jesse Saich earned a graduate degree in Russian and East European studies at the University of Kansas in May. He and his wife, Andreja, are moving to Slovenia in the fall, where he has accepted a position as an English teacher at a college preparatory high school. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Doreen Woo and Christopher Kong were married in July in San Mateo. A number of their wedding party and guests were UC Davis alums. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Brian Fisher, Ph.D., is the assistant curator of entomology for the California Academy of Sciences, which opened its new downtown San Francisco facility last spring with an exhibit, Ants: Hidden Worlds Revealed. After dermestid beetles attacked the exhibit’s army ant colony, Fisher prepared to travel to Costa Rica this fall to collect more army ants. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Jennifer Lee became executive assistant for development in the UC Davis Division of Biological Sciences in September after four years as administrative assistant for the campus Biotechnology Program. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Marie Ann Li earned her doctorate in pharmacy this summer from the University of Washington. Her research on Asian asthmatic patients was recently published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Becky Lynn Sartini, M.S., Ph.D. ’02, married fine-art photographer Christopher Hugh Flanagan in Rhode Island in September. She is a postdoctoral research associate in animal science at Cornell University. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    David Waddell researches muscle atrophy as a UC Davis postdoctoral fellow. He earned his doctorate in molecular biology this summer from Duke University. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Matt Bronson and Samantha (Peterson) Bronson were married in September at Sogno Winery in Shingle Springs. Matt works as an analyst in the Marin County Administrator’s Office, and Samantha owns a writing and editing business. They now live in San Rafael. (appeared in the Spring 2005 issue)    Arthur Horowitz, Ph.D., was named assistant professor of theatre and dance at Pomona College in Claremont following a five-year stint on the performance faculty at the California Institute of the Arts. His wife, Carol Bixler, is the producer of MacBeth (A Modern Ecstasy), performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall’s REDCAT Theater. (appeared in the Spring 2005 issue)    Ryan Ritchie and Cory (Hardie) Ritchie welcomed their second baby girl, Brenna MacKenzie, in January. Their first daughter, Fiona Jane, was born in June 2002. Cory worked in newspaper advertising before taking time off to be a mom, and Ryan is a physical therapist. The family lives in Lake Tahoe, Nev. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)
