1998Sarah Chambers and Andrew Hernandez were married in July at Wilson Vineyard in Clarksburg. They live in Sacramento. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)   Katherine Gottfredson received her law degree from the University of Arizona in May. She is the daughter of Michael Gottfredson '73, executive vice chancellor of UC Irvine, and Karol Schmalenberger Gottfredson '73, a program coordinator for the UC Irvine Department of Education. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Clifton Kussmaul, Ph.D., joined the faculty of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., as assistant professor of computer science. He previously worked with Elegance Technologies Inc. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    George Paganelis was appointed the first curator of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection at California State University, Sacramento. The collection, an important West Coast resource for the study of Hellenism, is among the largest such collections in the country. (appeared in the Winter 2004 issue)    Sharon Evonne Isquith married Matthew Robert Diamond in August. Diamond is an associate brand manager at the educational-products company Leapfrog in Emeryville, and Isquith is a school counselor in the San Francisco Unified School District. The couple lives in San Francisco. (appeared in the Spring 2004 issue)    Heather Mothershead married Jeremias Zunguze, whom she met while a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique, Africa. Their wedding was well-attended by UC Davis alumni, including Eva Correa ’00, Kirstyn Chun ’98, Susan Haubert ’00, Jake Martins ’98, Ali Rafenstein ’98, Dave Spencer ’98 and Christine Quintero ’00, as well as by current UC Davis law student and sister of the bride, Crystal Mothershead. (appeared in the Spring 2004 issue)    Brian Saltzman is currently in the Navy marine mammal program, helping train dolphins and sea lions to hunt for mines and enemy swimmers in Iraq. (appeared in the Spring 2004 issue)    Jona Newhall is completing a master’s degree in film directing at UCLA and is engaged to Jessie Schwarz, who received a degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2002 and is now completing a specialty residency in pediatrics in Boston. The two are planning an August wedding in San Diego. Schwarz is interested in planning a reunion for 1993Ð94 integrated studies students (Regan Hall). (appeared in the Summer 2004 issue)    Darrell Doan is manager of real estate operations and development for the city of Santa Cruz. He and his wife, Stephanie ’96, live in Seacliff. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Salon.com writer and former California Aggie columnist John Gorenfeld assembled a coalition of Internet file-sharers to distribute a video that shows several U.S. congressmen attending a ritual “coronation” of cult leader Sun Myung Moon. Gorenfeld’s reporting earned him the praise of major news outlets. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Eugene Peters has been deployed to Afghanistan for a year with the Army Reserves. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Kora Mehta recently received a full-tuition, three-year Public Interest/Public Service Scholarship from American University Washington College of Law, where she is a first-year student. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Robyn Myers, Ph.D., is a landscape ecologist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service’s watershed planning services staff in Davis. She and her husband, Brad, are breeder/caretakers for Canine Companions for Independence, helping to raise puppies that will become companions for people with disabilities. (appeared in the Spring 2005 issue)    Eric Brenner, Ph.D., was appointed assistant curator for plant genomics at the New York Botanical Garden. Brenner had been working as an assistant research professor at New York University. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)    Angelo Moreno, M.A. ’01, was honored by the California State University, Sacramento, School of Education as teacher of the year for his work with the Davis High School Symphony Orchestra and the Emerson and Holmes junior high school string orchestras. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)    Katrina (Hane) Watters graduated from Santa Clara University in June with a Master of Arts degree in inter-disciplinary education with a reading emphasis. She also earned a K–12 reading/language arts specialist credential. Watters received the Outstanding Student Award in Reading Service from the Department of Education for commitment to excellence and potential for leadership. (appeared in the Fall 2005 issue)    Shawnda Grady received the 2005 Achievement in Legal Writing Award upon graduating from Rutgers University School of Law at Camden. Grady now serves as a clerk in the New Jersey Superior Court Appellate Division. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)    Rogelio Villagrana, J.D. ’02, was elected to the Woodland Joint Unified School District board of trustees. Villagrana is a deputy for a county supervisor and serves on the district’s Budget Advisory Council and the English Learner Advisory Committee. (appeared in the Spring 2006 issue)    Kianda Bell died in December 2005, electrocuted by high voltage machinery at a Washington, D.C., substation. He was 31 years old. Mr. Bell was a graduate student and adjunct sociology instructor at American University and a researcher for Defense Manpower Data Center. Survivors include his fiancee, Rachel Lerebours. (appeared in the Spring 2006 issue)    Mike Livak, M.B.A., was named senior vice president/project director at the Royal Gorge cross-country ski center located in Soda Springs. He lives in Truckee with his wife and two young children. (appeared in the Fall 2006 issue)
