1994Linda Buckley has been appointed as a commissioner with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the accreditation agency for elementary, secondary and adult education in California, Hawaii, Guam and other Pacific islands, and East Asia. Buckley is the associate vice president for academic planning and development at San Francisco State University. (appeared in the Summer 2013 issue)   Anthony Farrington announced his candidacy this spring for the Fourth District Assembly seat in the 2014 election. A Democrat, Farrington is a fourth-term Lake County supervisor who began a law practice last year. In April, he married Jacqueline St. Martin, consumer sales and hospitality manager at a Lower Lake winery. (appeared in the Summer 2013 issue)    Lisa Catherine Harper, M.A., Ph.D. ’98, co-edited The Cassoulet Saved Our Marriage: True Tales of Food, Family, and How We Learn to Eat (Roost Books, 2013). The anthology includes her essay “Out of the Box.” She and co-editor Caroline Grant have been blogging since 2008 at learningtoeat.com about what they feed their families. (appeared in the Summer 2013 issue)    Joe Krovoza, J.D., mayor of Davis since 2011, joined the 2014 race for the Fourth District Assembly seat this spring. He works at UC Davis, directing the external relations units of the Institute of Transportation Studies and the Energy Efficiency Center. His wife, Janet (Dole) ’79, is a fundraiser for UC Davis’ College of Letters and Science. (appeared in the Summer 2013 issue)    After four years with UC Berkeley athletics, Blake Sasaki recently joined San José State University as senior associate athletic director for external relations. He oversees marketing, promotions, ticket sales and corporate sponsorships and raises funds for the new Vermeil-Walsh Athletic Complex. (appeared in the Fall 2013 issue)    After nearly a decade in management roles at the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, Janice Corbett became the new business manager for the Associated Students of UC Davis last fall. She lives in Davis with her husband and two children. (appeared in the Spring 2014 issue)    An article by Lisa Harper, M.A., Ph.D. ’98, defending club soccer, “The Crazy, Intense Schedule of Competitive Youth Soccer? Bring It On,” appeared in the online edition of the New York Times in October as part of a “Taking Sides” debate with parenting blogger KJ Dell’ Antonia. (appeared in the Spring 2014 issue)    Luis Rios Jr. was elected to the North American Academy of the Spanish Language, a branch of the Spanish Royal Academy. As a correspondent member, Rios co-chairs the California delegation overseeing the sociolinguistics of the Spanish language in the state. He also is editor of Boletin Octavio Paz. (appeared in the Spring 2014 issue)    Austin Jersild, Ph.D., wrote the book, The Sino-Soviet Alliance: An International History (University of North Carolina Press, 2014). He is an associate professor of history at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. (appeared in the Summer 2014 issue)    Scott Barton was recently promoted to senior vice president of branded digital content and products in the program planning department of the Starz premium cable TV network. (appeared in the Spring 2015 issue)    Linda Callis Buckley, Ph.D., is chief planning officer for the University of the Pacific in Stockton. She spent the past eight years as associate vice president of academic affairs at San Francisco State University. She previously was a faculty member at Sacramento State. 1995Park Allen was married in September in Tiburon. Guests at the wedding of this former Cal Aggie Marching Band-Uh student director included fellow past directors Andy Austin, Nate Austin and Katie Dooley. (appeared in the Spring 2000 issue)   Last year Mike Powers got married and joined California Endowment, one of the country's largest health foundations, as a communications manager. He was formerly an associate director of communication and marketing with the American Red Cross in Los Angeles. (appeared in the Spring 2000 issue)    Brent Spain recently received a law degree from Florida State University and published an article, "Florida Beach Access: Nothing But Wet Sand?," in the Journal of Land Use & Environmental Law. This fall he will begin a two-year term as judicial law clerk for Justice Harry Lee Anstead of the Florida Supreme Court. (appeared in the Summer 2000 issue)    Bret Bair manages Papa Roach, a Vacaville-based punk band. Papa Roach released its first album, Infest, on the DreamWorks label in April. Bair also manages other developing bands in the Sacramento area. (appeared in the Fall 2000 issue)    Karima Mariama-Harmon received a law degree from Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I., in May. She was a member of the Student Bar Association, treasurer of the Women's Law Association and a student law clerk for the Public Defender's Office in Providence and for Magistrate Jacob Hagobian of the U.S. District Court. She is currently a law clerk for Fay Law Associates in Cranston, R.I. (appeared in the Fall 2000 issue)    Christine McCracken, M.S., was recently promoted to vice president at Midwest Research, a provider of investment research for financial institutions in Cleveland, Ohio. (appeared in the Fall 2000 issue)    Kari Lyn Wilson received a doctor of medicine degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in May and is doing a residency in family practice at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Memorial Hospital. (appeared in the Fall 2000 issue)    Nina Wolgelenter recently joined the staff of Community Health Charities, a coalition of local and national voluntary health agencies that provide medical research, patient services and education programs based in Overland Park, Kan. Wolgelenter formerly worked with inner-city youth on projects ranging from environmental education to gardening and healthy living in collaboration with the Oakland Department of Public Health and Americorps. (appeared in the Fall 2000 issue)    Judith Cross, M.A., Ph.D. '00, is visiting assistant professor of philosophy for the 2000-2001 academic year at the College of Wooster in Ohio. Cross has also held teaching positions at UC Davis and California State University, Sacramento. (appeared in the Winter 2001 issue)
