2002Kevin Chee is a member of the pharmaceutical company Mujisan Pharmaceuticals, which won the first prize of $10,000 in the fourth annual Big Bang! Business Plan Competition, organized by Graduate School of Management students at UC Davis. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)   Bay Area filmmaker Joshua Chuck is a participant in the AIDS Marathon Program, which raises funds for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. He plans to run his first marathon in Honolulu in December. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    At press time, Emily (Basham) Fassbaugh and her husband, Benjamin, were expecting their first child. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    Danni Le is pursuing a master’s degree in counselor education at San Jose State University. She is currently a counselor for G.E.A.R. U.P. (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) at San Jose High Academy. This year she participated in a summer abroad program, working with Honduran children. (appeared in the Fall 2004 issue)    June Chu, M.A., Ph.D. ’04, was named director of the Pan Asian-American Community House at the University of Pennsylvania in October. Previously, she was a research analyst at UC Davis and a graduate researcher at the National Research Center on Asian American Health. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Alice Lam is an assistant marketing manager for Eastridge Mall in San Jose. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    Michelle Moore completed a Master of Arts in psychology at the Colorado School of Professional Psychology in October and is pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology. (appeared in the Winter 2005 issue)    After two seasons as executive assistant for the executive producer of The Apprentice, Karen Fong now works at NBC in Burbank as an entertainment publicity coordinator. (appeared in the Spring 2005 issue)    C.V. Dreesman’s first novel, The Slave Within, has been published. The cover art was produced by current UC Davis student Marcus Dallas. Dreesman lives in Davis with his wife and son. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)    R. Harrison Edell recently joined the Zoological Society of San Diego’s Department of Animal Behavior Management, becoming the youngest permanent animal trainer on the staff. Edell has been with the zoological society since 2002, during which time he has worked as both an educator and an animal keeper. His current charges include an American golden eagle named Tonka. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)    Alyssa Ralston is in the middle of a two-year stint in the Peace Corps, teaching English to second- through eighth-graders in Dorohoi, Romania. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)    Josh Widaman has been promoted from enologist to assistant winemaker at Chimney Rock Winery in Napa. (appeared in the Summer 2005 issue)    Hilary Gladstein works as a production coordinator on television shows and specials in the Los Angeles area. Gladstein’s most notable work was on the SuperBowl XXXIX halftime show in 2005 and the 2004 Democratic National Convention. (appeared in the Fall 2005 issue)    Jonathan Scanlon received a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in May. (appeared in the Fall 2005 issue)    Spring Warren, M.A., was selected from among 45 competitors as the first winner of the $5,000 Maurice Prize in Fiction, awarded through the UC Davis Department of English. The winning manuscript, The Breaks, details the working and personal relationships that develop between a rodeo roper and his architect son who travel from California to Wyoming to rebuild a barn. Warren lives in Davis with her two children and husband, UC Davis historian Louis Warren. (appeared in the Fall 2005 issue)    Sara Blagg graduated from the Seattle University School of Law in May. She earned her juris doctorate cum laude. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)    Rebekka (Woodruff) Fine and Matt Fine ’03, who met as research assistants in an ecology lab at UC Davis, celebrated their first wedding anniversary in September. Rebekka teaches first grade in Elk Grove, and Matt works as a carpenter with Eberle Remodeling in Sacramento. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)    Van Nguyen recently earned her master’s degree in physician assistant sciences from Marietta College in Ohio. She now works as a certified physician assistant for Desert Family Medical Center in Palm Springs. Her executive director is Kimberley Yang ’91. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)    Jason Ortega joined the landscape architecture, urban design and planning firm Walker Macy in Portland, Ore. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)    Nicole (Murrisky) Rich and Alan Rich ’01 welcomed their first child, Aidan Christopher Rich, in August. The couple lives in Sacramento where Alan is completing his master’s degree in nursing, and Nicole works in advertising. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)
