2004April Salomon is the executive director of the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Before joining the museum staff in 2007, she worked at the Heard Museum, Institute for Learning Innovation and the Smithsonian Institution. (appeared in the Spring 2015 issue)
2005Adam Barr is currently working as the assistant program director at the Institute for Responsible Citizenship in Washington, D.C. The program is intended to foster principled leadership in 10 carefully selected minority male college students each summer. He will remain in this capacity before returning to academia to attend business school. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)   After a 10-year absence, Lisa Serna-Mayorga returned to UC Davis to complete her B.A. in English literature. Serna-Mayorga works with her brother at Serna Consulting LLC as a public relations associate. She has been married for nine years and is a mother of two boys. (appeared in the Winter 2006 issue)    Donald Cohen-Cutler traveled to Utica, Miss., in October with the Union for Reform Judaism’s Jacob’s Ladder Project to distribute relief goods to hurricane victims. He writes, “I was pleased to meet Deborah Kadin ’70 when I was there. Throughout the time we were there, we would continually yell ‘Go Ags!’ and ‘Beat Stanford!’” (appeared in the Spring 2006 issue)    In a December Sacramento Bee article, Victor Copeland discussed his decision to forgo a burgeoning career as a professional rock climber in favor of law school. He plans to specialize in special- education law, defending the rights of disabled individuals, while he continues to pursue his lifelong passion of bouldering. (appeared in the Spring 2006 issue)    Carlos Alvarado joined the planning, water resources and environmental firm EIP Associates in Sacramento. (appeared in the Summer 2006 issue)    Erin McGinnis is working as a veterinary technician at a small- animal clinic in Marin County. She also volunteers at a wildlife rehabilitation center, helping to feed and care for orphaned and injured animals. (appeared in the Fall 2006 issue)    Michael Cooper, M.S., married Rebecca Orrell in August in Montezuma, Costa Rica. They live in Austin, Texas. (appeared in the Winter 2007 issue)    Alison Ganz is in her second year of teaching English to elementary school children in Lille, France. (appeared in the Spring 2007 issue)    Erin Murata was recently admitted to the class of 2010 at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pa. (appeared in the Spring 2007 issue)    The Lindbergh Foundation awarded a grant to Catherine Cloud, M.S. Her project, “Promoting Sustainable Agriculture in Mozambique through Junior Farmer Videos,” provides AIDS orphans with necessary skills to grow food with ecologically sound methods. (appeared in the Winter 2008 issue)    Adam Barr was engaged to Krystal Easthouse in November, and they plan to be married in spring 2009. Barr is a program manager for the Institute for Responsible Citizenship in Washington, D.C., but plans to move back to California to pursue an M.B.A. (appeared in the Spring 2008 issue)    Kristi Tabaj, M.S., is working in Afghanistan with the Portland, Ore.-based, non-governmental organization Mercy Corps. She works with the agricultural community, providing guidance on production practices and market opportunities. (appeared in the Spring 2008 issue)    Rebecca Blatt married David Rendsburg in July. Blatt is going into her third year of teaching at Mott Hall High School in New York City, and Rendsburg works for Hazon, a Jewish environmental nonprofit organization. (appeared in the Fall 2008 issue)    During a Fulbright Fellowship that ended in September, Fiona Laurie helped Mayan women in Guatemala develop markets for their textiles. In June, a Davis gallery hosted a one-night exhibition of some of the weavers' work, as well as photographs by Laurie and Charlie Schneider documenting the women's daily life and traditions. Proceeds benefitted the Tejidos Cotzal Cooperative, started by women in San Juan Cotzal trying to rebuild their lives after Guatemala's 36-year civil war. (appeared in the Fall 2008 issue)    The Sacramento Public Relations Association has selected two UC Davis alumni to lead its board of directors: Jairo Moncada will be president, and Jana Sanders Perry '03 will be vice president. Moncada is communications manager for California Volunteers in the Office of the Governor, and Perry is a public relations account executive and events and promotions specialist for Merlot Marketing Inc. (appeared in the Fall 2008 issue)    Jessica Hope Jordan, M.A., Ph.D. '08, is an assistant professor of 19th century American literature in the English department at the University of the Pacific in Stockton. She wrote a book called Sex and the Goddess: Hyper-Femininity in American Film (1930-1960) (Cambria Press) and is currently editing an anthology of essays by John Muir. (appeared in the Winter 2009 issue)    Robert Ehsan has been an assistant coach for the University of Maryland’s basketball team for the past two years. Ingrid Nurse Foster was recently hired as vice president of communications at the Metro Chamber in Sacramento. She previously worked as marketing director for Wente Vineyards in Livermore. (appeared in the Spring 2009 issue)    KELSIE (KEAR) MCKENZIE and SHAMAR MCKENZIE married in July 2007, and had their first child, Kesenia Joyce McKenzie, last September. Both are currently teachers and live in Southern California. Kelsie was the 2005 UC Davis Gymnastics captain and Shamar played for the football team. (appeared in the Summer 2009 issue)    AARON “DON” MILLS, Ph.D. ’05, an assistant chemistry professor at the University of Idaho, died in May at age 32. After earning his doctorate, he conducted postdoctoral studies at UC Davis and UC San Francisco on organic molecular synthesis. He joined the University of Idaho faculty in summer 2008. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Heidi Mariah Mills; parents, Joseph and Carol Ann Mills of Alvin, Texas; brother, Andrew Thomas Mills; and sister, Diana Mary Melissa Harding.
