2000Amy (Saunders) Lawson and Jonathan Lawson welcomed their new daughter last August. Carly Anne Lawson was born in Katy, Texas, where both of her parents teach mathematics.
2002Becca Deal and Gavin Stavis were engaged in September and plan to be married in late 2009 or early 2010. Stavis is a real estate appraiser with McBride-Stavis Appraisers, and Deal is a physical therapist at two independent clinics. They live at Donner Lake in Truckee.
2003Janet Cho, an Asia Pacific regional specialist with the U.S. Department of Defense, was awarded the Mike Mansfield Fellowship from the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Foundation. She will spend a year in Washington, D.C., learning about Japan and its landscape before working for the Japanese government for a year. The program is designed to build a corps of U.S. government officials with Japanese expertise.    Megan (Chiosso) Contreras and Nabor Contreras married last September at Lake Tahoe. UC Davis alumnae who participated in the bridal party were Amy (Dutton) Gaudard '03, Asfala Arison '04, Claire Stoltz-Urch '03, Reina O'Beck '03 and Siri (Smith) Baland '03. The newlyweds live in Davis. Nabor is a DJ and student, and Megan is the program director at Explorit Science Center.   Katharine (Devany) Thrasher and her husband, Joseph, welcomed their first daughter, Claire Anne, in August. Thrasher is currently a homemaker, and her husband is the Energy Technology Laboratories vice president. They live in Oakdale.    Robert Witmeyer and Rachel Ball eloped in February, followed by a family wedding in July. Witmeyer is working in the musical instrument trade and teaches guitar, bass and banjo lessons. Ball got her master's degree in education in 2005 and has been teaching sixth grade for the last three years in San Jose.
2004Jennifer Barker and David Tucker '05, were married in July. Barker is a fundraising professional, and Tucker is attending graduate school at San Jose State University. They are living Palo Alto.    Emilio Soltero, Ph.D., edited the new book John Buscema: A Life In Sketches (Pearl Press), which features over 300 previously unpublished sketches by the comic book illustrator. Soltero is currently teaching advanced placement and international baccalaureate art classes at Santa Ynez High School.
2005Jessica Hope Jordan, M.A., Ph.D. '08, is an assistant professor of 19th century American literature in the English department at the University of the Pacific in Stockton. She wrote a book called Sex and the Goddess: Hyper-Femininity in American Film (1930-1960) (Cambria Press) and is currently editing an anthology of essays by John Muir.
2006Roopa Dhatt participated in an international conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Alma-Ata Declaration on primary health care last October in Kazakhstan. She was one of four medical students in the world chosen to represent the U.S./North America region as part of a young people's delegation, and she met world health leaders during her stay in Kazakhstan. She is currently attending Temple University School of Medicine and Sciences Po in Paris.    Jesse Eric Montes is training the Iraqi National Police and conducting route clearance missions with the U.S. Army as an engineer officer. He plans to attend law school when he returns to the United States.
