Aggie Stadium’s finished, and it’s a whole new ball game! The multi-use stadium opened this spring before it was finished in order to host the last few home games of women’s lacrosse. It’s now complete both inside and out, with landscaping added for picnic and play areas.

The 9,000-seat facility, located at the corner of La Rue Road and Hutchison Drive, also has berm seating for 1,900 and can be expanded to seat 30,000. It is the home field for football and women’s lacrosse and will provide a venue for community and regional events, including high school athletic events, concerts and commencement ceremonies.

Picnic areas have been set up just outside the stadium, including a TeamAGGIE area on the southwest corner of the stadium and a grove area just west of the stadium for alumni and Cal Aggie Alumni Association functions. Both areas are open to the public and offer food, beer, wine and nonalcoholic beverages for sale. Gunrock’s Gridiron Festival, on the northeast corner of the stadium, has games and bounce houses for families. Space for tailgate parties (no alcohol allowed) is provided in parking lots 30 (next to the Recreation Pool) and, for TeamAGGIE members, in lot 56 (south of the stadium).

The stadium is one of the projects funded by the Facilities and Campus Enhancement Initiative (FACE) approved by students in 1999. Student fees from this initiative account for almost two-thirds of the $31 million project cost. Other campus revenues and donations raised through a current fundraising initiative are supplying the remaining funding.
