Your summer 1996 issue has a fascinating article about Bob Warren '58 and his collection of pin-back buttons. I have never met Bob, but years ago I used to eat lunch in the old Rec Hall with his brother, Earl Warren Jr.
There is a word for button collectors: peroneophile (with the accent on the ne syllable), derived from the Greek roots for love of (or attraction to) and the bone called fibula in Latin and English. (The fibula of an animal was used as a fastener to close the togas of ancient Romans. Fibula came to mean a clasp or button.)
