Slight coverage

UC Davis awards the $30,000 Prize for Undergraduate Teaching and Scholarly Achievement to Professor Gary B. Anderson and UC Davis Magazine sees fit to report the story only as a two-column article under "News & Notes" (summer 1997 issue). Notes?! The prize is the highest honor UC Davis bestows on a professor. By your own reporting, the award is "believed to be the largest individual award of its kind in the nation." Why, then, does this man of monumental talent and dedication to teaching and scientific excellence get so little coverage by your publication? Your reporting was an injustice not only to Dr. Anderson but to the excellence he embodies. I am disappointed. Please consider giving future recipients of the prize their due credit.
