'51 Terrell Holliday, D.V.M. '53, received the Alumni Achievement Award from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. A member of the school's second graduating class, Holliday pioneered veterinary neurology as a specialized field. This year he also received the Robert W. Kirk Distinguished Service Award for his lifetime achievements. Holliday lives in Davis and assists UC Davis neurology students.

'64 Carolyn Pfanner lost her bid for Yolo County Clerk-Recorder to Tony Bernhard in the June primary. Pfanner worked at UC Davis for several years as a laboratory technician and scientific editor.

'67 Stephen Barthold, D.V.M. '69, was presented with the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine's Alumni Achievement Award. Barthold was honored for his study of Lyme disease. Working with medical doctors and veterinarians, he helped develop a human vaccine for the tick-transmitted disease. Barthold returned to Davis last year to become the first director of the Center for Comparative Medicine, where he hopes to continue the collaboration between medical doctors and vets to work on viral diseases of animals and humans.

'68 Tom Stallard, J.D. '75, was re-elected to the board of supervisors of Yolo County. His accomplishments include the renovations of four historical buildings in downtown Woodland, the addition of two deputy public defenders, the construction of a new social services center in West Sacramento and the creation of a volunteer program at Juvenile Hall that pairs an adult advocate with each child.
