Additional leaders

We realize that it would be impossible to individually name the "more than 100 graduates of UC Davis who work in or around the State Capitol" in your "UC Davis Grows Leaders" article [summer 1999 issue]. However, the Asian Pacific American Alumni Association finds it to be a glaring oversight to fail to acknowledge even one of our Asian Pacific American alumni in the Capitol. Alums such as Bill Wong, senior consultant to Senator Solis, and Elaine Yamaguchi, assistant to the speaker, have been providing statewide political leadership for years and are worthy of recognition, too.

Our partial listing of Aggies working in the Capitol was based on information gathered by the UC Office of the President, which annually sends a questionnaire to all legislative offices asking for information on alumni staff members. We did not receive feedback regarding the two people you mentioned; therefore, we were not aware that these alums were employed in the Legislature. Thank you for bringing these grads to our attention.
