After graduating, Jim Beardsley taught agricultural mechanics at San Joaquin Delta College for 34 years. He now helps with tractor restoration at the San Joaquin County Museum with fellow post-World War II Aggies Gersh Rosen, Glen McMasters and Russ Cosgrave.

Richard J. Peters has been named to Who's Who in the World 1997 (Marquis). After graduation, Peters served in agricultural research and extension in Vietnam for International Voluntary Services Inc. More recently, he has been in Amman, Jordan, working with a trade organization to increase production and export of fruits and vegetables.
'64 Peter Mehren, M.A. '72, has been cast in a lead role in Taylor's Return, a movie due out this summer.
Steven J. Baker, dean of the Graduate School of International Policy Studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, was appointed provost beginning summer 1997. Baker will oversee the academic programs of the institute's four graduate schools, research centers and academic support activities.
Philip Coelho is president of ThermoGenesis Corp., a research and development firm based in Rancho Cordova that makes devices for collecting, freezing and thawing biological substances. He has been instrumental in the development of new equipment and is either creator or co-creator of the nine products the company has patented.
David E. Janssen, M.A. '69, Ph.D. '72, was appointed chief administrative officer for Los Angeles County--the county's top administrative position. In addition to preparing budget and operational recommendations for the board of supervisors, Janssen oversees the county's expenditures, capital projects and asset management. Previously, Janssen was the chief administrative officer for San Diego County.
'68 Jan Sikola Bencken, Cred. '69, has been principal at Breen Elementary School in Rocklin since 1994. Before that position, she served in several administrative positions in the San Juan Unified School District.
David Hird, D.V.M., M.P.V.M. '73, a professor at UC Davis' College of Veterinary Medicine and director of the school's office of international programs, received the 1996 Merck AgVet Award for creativity in teaching.
Richard R. Rush, M.S., has been reappointed state executive director of the USDA Farm Service Agency in Idaho. His wife, Nancy (Aughinbaugh) '69, is coordinator of community health education at the Central Health District in Boise. She was recently promoted to lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserves, 328th Combat Support Hospital.
Rick Dow is vice president and country manager in the Philippines for Bechtel Corp., an engineering and construction company. He writes that he and his family are enjoying the culture and the travel opportunities.
