Spirited Aggies

Some of us who were undergraduates attending the Davis campus when it was occupied by the Signal Corps in 1943, though we completed our education at other colleges or universities, remained Aggies at heart. When families were raised and careers were winding down, five of us who had lived in South Hall in '41'43 and Don Anderson from North Hall agreed it was time for a reunion. The Aggie Spirit has sustained us so well that we have continued to meet for the past eight years. Even non-Aggie spouses look forward to the annual event. Dora (Nelson) Flanagan's son Mike sponsors our retreat at his vacation home in Twain Harte each June. It's a time of catching up and remembering--"Pop's cafeteria"; coffee and donuts 10 cents at the co-op; Putah Creek beer busts; lazy afternoons on the Quad; Picnic Day parades; cram sessions in the dorm; "Struvie," our dean and mentor--as we pore over our dog-eared copies of El Rodeo. To all who remember we say, "Hello Again, Hello." -- Don and Edie (Richards) Anderson, Jane (Beatty) Huxtable, Corinne (Johnson) Dixon, Dora (Nelson) Flanagan, Anna (Schrader) Douthett.
