Randy Harris, M.A., Ph.D. '85, recently published a textbook titled Nonclassical Physics: Beyond Newton's View. Harris is a lecturer in the UC Davis physics department. Calvin Hara was recently named administrator of the Asian Community Nursing Home in Sacramento. Hara has worked at the nursing home since 1986. He also participates in Jan Ken Po Gakko, a Japanese American enrichment program, and the Cub Scouts. Lisa Bennett was married to Michael Goertz in December. Bennett and her husband are engineers for Hewlett-Packard Co. in Mountain View. They live in Sunnyvale and Aptos. Joan Connelly recently married Steve Correa, a former clinical faculty member in cardiovascular disease at UC Davis Medical Center. Connelly graduated from McGeorge School of Law in 1997, worked for the Sacramento County public defender's office and is now planning a move to Fresno, where Correa will join Cardiovascular Associates in private practice. Connelly writes, "Any former classmates should feel free to look me up; I would love the contact!" Steve Dorfman was recently appointed director of global product development strategy for Brown-Forman Beverages Worldwide, Wine Group. Dorfman previously worked for a year at Franciscan and 17 years at Fetzer vineyards, most recently serving as vice president of business effectiveness. He works in Napa. Mark Yellin completed his Ph.D. in political science at Rutgers University in May. His dissertation examined the political thought of the 18th-century philosopher David Hume. Yellin teaches in the political science department at North Carolina State University, Raleigh. Sandra Hamel obtained her joint master's degree in career development and vocational rehabilitation from California State University, Sacramento, in May. Sheryl (Puckett) Obegi received her master's degree in teaching from Washington State University, Vancouver. She teaches third grade in Vancouver and is active with her professional bellydance troupe, Sisters of the Sands. Navy Lt. Eric Purdy received his master's degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. Diana Vail works as an event planner for the UC Davis Graduate School of Management and lives in Sacramento.
