Frank B. Arian completed his M.D. degree this year at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is now doing his first year of residency in emergency medicine at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield with fellow Aggies Francis Alonso '87, Robert Barandica '88 and Ken Collins '88. "The strongest students are always Aggies. Go AGS!," says Arian. Gary M. Johnson was admitted to the California Bar last year and has been working with Kloster, Ruddell, Hornburg, Cochran, Stanton & Smith law firm in Visalia. Jeanette Logan received a doctorate of pharmacy from UC San Francisco in June, graduating with the school's top honor, the Bowl of Hygeia. She is now doing a pharmacy residency at UC San Francisco and hopes to complete a fellowship next year in psychiatric pharmacy.
Brian Carlisle recently became the men's head rowing coach at the University of Virginia. He had previously coached the rowing team at UC Davis for four years and later in Kansas before moving to Virginia. He writes that he still has his Aggie license plate. Timothy C. Earl graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1994. He is now an attorney with Stutz, Gallagher, Artiano, Shinoff & Holtz where he focuses on employment discrimination, sexual harassment, product liability, and defective construction. Julie K. Jack is a manager of sustainable forestry initiative and international forestry with the American Forest and Paper Association in Washington, D.C. Bobbie Orr is working with the Whitefly Biological Control Program at UC Riverside.
Jennifer (Tremewan) Chapman was married to Tom Chapman, a UC Berkeley graduate, at St. Mary's College in June. She also received her teaching credential in 1994 from St. Mary's. She and Tom are living in Monterey. Melanie Mitchell Dardis completed a master of science degree in forestry, with an emphasis on silviculture, at the University of Montana in 1994. She lives with her husband, Michael, in Wisdom, Mont., where they are foresters. Joshua Green received his master's degree in physical therapy in September from Touro College in Long Island, N.Y. He has accepted a position at Siskiyou General Hospital in Yreka. Kevin Johnson received his Ph.D. in environmental toxicology from Clemson University in South Carolina. He is now working in a postdoctorate position at Washington State University. Eric Madsen married Rosemary Gaskill '94 in October after 10 years together. The couple is expecting their first child in February. They live in Sacramento where Eric is a painting contractor and Rosemary is pursuing a law degree. Jennifer (Holmes) Pike is the assistant to the mayor of Phoenix, Ariz., Skip Rimsza. She moved to Phoenix in 1993 to serve on several campaigns and work as Rimsza's campaign manager. She is now developing a teacher scholarship program and desert preservation plan. Deepa (Makam) Singamsetti is a senior account executive at Kay Software Inc., a software consulting firm in the Bay Area. She married Chak Singamsetti in 1994. She can be reached at dsingams@kay.com. Tamara Biermann, Cred. '94, teaches a first-grade bilingual class and has received tenure in the Oxnard Elementary School District. Barbara Gay is serving as a Peace Corps volunteer as a nutritionist in Guatemala. This is her last requirement before she receives her master of public health degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, La. Jasmine Jesudason teaches eighth-grade English at Willis Jepson Middle School in Vacaville. She is married to Ron Lautzenheiser, a pilot, and they have a 16-month-old son, Christian. Sarah Kleyensteuber is completing her final year at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, in the master of physical therapy program. Gay W. Lam has opened Wishbone, a store devoted to cards, gifts, jewelry and art, in San Francisco's Hayes Valley. Displayed in the store are artworks by UC Davis alumni. Lewis, M.A., Ph.D. '96, was named an assistant professor of sociology and anthropology at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Robert Lyfareff and Gareth de Bruyn '94 co-wrote Introduction to ABAP/4 Programming for SAP (Prima Press), a technical guide to developing computer applications. The two are working on a project for Hewlett Packard in Roseville. Alice O'Neil graduated from New York University with a master's degree in English and American literature and now teaches in New York City. Sonia Prasad is working on her master's degree at San Jose State in English instruction for speakers of other languages. She had been working as the assistant project coordinator with Partners International, a Christian mission relief and development organization and spent six months in Macao teaching English. Claudia M. Rahim and Nazir A. Rahim '94 were married in June. The couple lives in Washington, D.C., where Nazir is attending Howard University Medical School. Claudia will take an examination in February to become a licensed nutritionist. Andrew T. Schweiger married Paula K. Seng whom he met in 1987 when they were both exchange students in Spain. He is production manager/enologist for Cain Vineyards and has also started Schweiger Vineyards in the Napa Valley. Morgan Elizabeth Barrows received her master's degree in environmental studies in May from California State University, Fullerton. She is working on her Ph.D. John Dodson received his master's degree in organizational communication from California State University, Sacramento, this summer. Chris Dornay is attending Catholic University School of Law. He recently married Cheryl Doubledee, and they live in Crystal City.
Ramses M. Agustin is attending graduate school at MIT College of Engineering in Cambridge, Mass. Sara Brown has been appointed an associate at the Sacramento Division of Nelson Communications Group, a public relations agency. She will be working with account teams with the California Teachers Association, Creative Publications and Delta Dental. Before this position, she had been appointments assistant to Gov. Wilson. Thomas McIntyre is a permanent member of the International Theatre in Vienna, Austria, playing Oscar in The Odd Couple, plus roles in A Christmas Carol, The Elephant Man and Arsenic and Old Lace. Since he graduated he has appeared in a number of plays in Sonora and Marin and Contra Costa counties. David Stevens, M.S., has been appointed associate wine maker by Domaine Chandon, a Napa Valley sparkling wine producer. Stevens joins Domaine Chandon after four years as assistant wine maker at Freemark Abbey Winery in St. Helena.
