Counseling and Do-It-Yourself Career Change

Davis is the only UC campus that offers lifetime, free career counseling to alumni. However, resources at the Internship and Career Center and the Cal Aggie Alumni Association are limited.

If you are planning a visit to the Davis campus to use SIGI or speak with a counselor, please phone the ICC for an appointment at least a week in advance, (916) 752-2855. (And please keep in mind that ICC's mission dictates that current students be served first.)

The Career and Graduate Resource Room and the alumni office are open to alumni during normal business hours. At the resource room, just sign in at the door with your former student ID number (the same as your Social Security number).

Some suggestions for long-distance career counseling:

Check with career centers at UC campuses near your home. All have reciprocal agreements with Davis (with some restrictions) and will allow Davis alumni to use their facilities for a modest fee. (CAAA has a synopsis of the services available at other UC career centers.) SIGI or comparable programs are available at many universities, community colleges and public libraries.

You can perform your own self-assessment and access mountains of information through the books and Internet sites listed in Other Resources. Then, if needed, contact the ICC counselors with specific questions.
