A Centennial year of celebration, service and participation!

We’re celebrating our Centennial — 100 years since the first students arrived on campus — with a year full of events, activities and possibilities. This is only a sampling of what’s in store.

California State Fair

Aug. 15–Sept. 1

  • This year only — 6,000-square-foot UC Davis Pavilion in the Expo Center
  • Visit the Demonstration Farm and the livestock nursery — UC Davis students in action
  • Taste some wine — There’s a good chance the winemaker is a UC Davis grad.
  • See California Fine Art — Our own Professor David Hollowell is a juror!
  • Take in a Thoroughbred horse race — They’re back at the fair for the first time in four years.
  • Visit the hatchery in the Fur and Feathers Bulding at Expo Center to see chicken and quail chicks hatching

  • Art — “You See” exhibit. History was made in the early ’60s when five great artists came together on the UC Davis campus and changed the nature and perception of art in California forever.

  • Academic Showcase — Classes without quizzes! Come hear our distinguished faculty and alumni experts speak on topics ranging from the arts to wine and food to healthcare and history.

  • Celebrate UC Davis — A birthday party thrown by the Davis Chamber of Commerce and the city of Davis to honor their century-long relationships with the campus
  • Centennial Walk dedication — The central walk through the historic Quad gets a facelift.
  • Chamber Day on the Quad — Over 100 local businesses host booths to introduce themselves to students and the campus community.
  • Activities Faire — Explore more than 150 student organizations, ASUCD activities, sport clubs and campus departments. Exhibits, club sign-ups, demonstrations, entertainment, information and more.
  • East Quad farmers market — Visit the on-campus farmers market, established to give UC Davis students, faculty and staff easy access to fresh local produce.
  • Staff Assembly fall meeting — Staff Assembly is dedicated to promoting the welfare, interests and diversity of UC Davis staff. Attend the fall meeting to learn about its programs and activities.

Lone Twin: 30 Days in the Life of Davis

March 20–April 18
2 actors + 5-mile daily bike ride = evening performance x 30 — all about Davis. Don’t miss a single night of performed stories based on what these two actors learn during their daily rides. Brought to you by the Mondavi Center.

Picnic Day

April 18
The first one was 1909 — and no doxie races. One hundred years later, this campuswide open house is not to be missed! Share a favorite Picnic Day memory at the Centennial Web site.
